The Carroll College
Broulee NSW
Delivery of comprehensive civil works at Carroll College, Broulee, including demolition, bulk and detailed earthworks, stormwater and on-site detention installation, and construction of new asphalt pavements and car parking infrastructure.
STAGE 1
Establishment, Survey & Environmental Controls
Client
Carroll College Broulee
Region
South Coast
Status
Underway
The project commenced with full site establishment, including survey set-out from supplied control and design files to ensure accurate positioning of all works. Waste classification testing was undertaken to confirm compliant material handling and disposal pathways.
Environmental protection measures were implemented across the site, including sediment fencing, inlet protection and a controlled construction access point with shaker grid. These controls ensured effective management of erosion, sediment movement and vehicle tracking throughout the project.
STAGE 2
External Demolition & Clearing
Existing infrastructure was removed to create a construction-ready platform. Works included demolition and removal of existing concrete pavements, loading dock areas, kerbing, traffic islands and existing bitumen surfaces, along with removal of redundant fencing and associated external elements.
Following demolition, the site was cleared and prepared for bulk earthworks operations.
STAGE 3
Bulk Earthworks
Earthworks operations included stripping of topsoil, excavation to design levels and re-use of suitable site-won material as engineered fill. Subgrades were compacted, proof rolled and trimmed to achieve specified tolerances.
Geotechnical supervision and testing were carried out during fill placement to verify compaction and performance.
Detailed earthworks were completed for building footings and external pavement areas, including foundation excavation, bearing capacity verification and detailed pavement boxing. Retaining wall zones were backfilled using free-draining site materials to ensure structural stability and long-term performance.
STAGE 4
Stormwater & On-Site Detention (OSD) Works
A comprehensive stormwater system was constructed to service the development. Works included trench excavation and installation of PVC and reinforced concrete pipelines, precast pits, kerb entry structures, headwalls and connections into existing infrastructure. Compaction testing was undertaken to verify trench performance.
On-site detention (OSD) tanks were excavated, bedded, installed and backfilled in conjunction with builder-supplied components and cranage. Agricultural drainage lines were installed around OSD structures and retaining walls to manage subsoil water and protect surrounding assets.
STAGE 5
Pavement, Kerb & Car Park Construction
Subgrade preparation and pavement foundation works were completed across footpath, hardstand and traffic areas. This included placement of engineered granular subbase and base materials, stabilised layers and separation geotextiles where required.
Heavy-duty pavement structures were constructed to suit design loading requirements, including priming and placement of asphalt wearing courses.
Kerb, gutter, flush kerb and dish drains were installed to define pavement edges and manage surface water. Car park finishing works included linemarking, signage installation, rubber wheel stops and protective bollards to critical infrastructure areas.
STAGE 6
Spoil Removal & Project Completion
Excess material generated during earthworks and stormwater construction, including topsoil, excavation spoil and trench material, was classified and removed to approved disposal facilities in accordance with environmental requirements.
Following completion of civil works, the site was trimmed, stabilised and left compliant, delivering a fully serviced and operational platform ready for building and operational use.
