 Woonona NSW

APX Civil delivered a 560m² asphalt car park at IRT Woonona, including excavation of 84m³, new stormwater installation, 100mm DGB20 roadbase, and a 50mm AC10 asphalt surface.

STAGE  1

Site Establishment & Controls

Mobilisation of plant and equipment was completed to establish the project and enable safe delivery of the works. Survey control was undertaken to create the digital model and complete site set-out. Environmental measures included installation of 90m of sediment fencing and 5 sediment traps to protect downstream assets. Service locating and cable scanning were carried out, along with waste classification testing to confirm compliant disposal of excavated material.

STAGE  2

Stormwater Installation

New drainage infrastructure was installed to manage surface water and integrate with the existing system. Works included the supply and installation of 13m of 225mm StormFlo PVC pipe, construction of a 600 × 600 × 600 precast concrete pit with Class D lid, and connection into the existing stormwater network.

STAGE  3

Bulk Earthworks & Subgrade Preparation

Bulk excavation was undertaken to achieve design levels across the proposed car park footprint. Approximately 84m³ of material was excavated, loaded and removed from site. The formation area of 560m² was then trimmed, moisture conditioned and compacted to specification, followed by geotechnical proof rolling to confirm subgrade performance.

STAGE  4

Pavement Construction

The prepared subgrade was stabilised and built up to design levels with the placement of 100mm thick compacted DGB20 roadbase across the 560m² pavement area. Imported material was spread, conditioned and trimmed using our sharp grade Leveller attachment on our Kubota SV95 Posi-Track to achieve tight tolerances and long-term structural performance.

STAGE  5

Asphalt Surfacing & Final Works

The pavement was completed with the installation of 50mm thick AC10 asphalt over the full 560m² area, delivering a durable wearing surface. Final works included waterborne line marking for parking layout and installation of powder-coated safety bollards, followed by site clean-up and preparation for practical completion.
