About the project

APX Civil was engaged to deliver civil works at Carroll College in Broulee, NSW.
 

The project involves site establishment, survey set-out, environmental controls, demolition, bulk and detailed earthworks, stormwater drainage, on-site detention works, pavement construction, kerb works, asphalt surfacing and car park infrastructure.
 

Delivered within an active school development environment, the works require careful staging, service coordination, geotechnical testing and quality control to support the construction of a fully serviced and functional civil platform.

Site Establishment, Survey and Environmental Controls

The project commenced with full site establishment to prepare the work area for civil construction.

APX Civil completed survey set-out from supplied control and design files to ensure accurate positioning of the works across the site.

Waste classification testing was also undertaken to confirm compliant handling and disposal pathways for material generated throughout the project.
 

Environmental controls were installed early in the program, including sediment fencing, inlet protection and a controlled construction access point with a shaker grid. These measures helped manage erosion, sediment movement and vehicle tracking while maintaining a controlled construction environment.

Demolition, Clearing and Earthworks
 

External demolition and clearing works were completed to create a construction-ready platform for the next stages of the project.

The scope included removal of existing concrete pavements, loading dock areas, kerbing, traffic islands, bitumen surfaces, redundant fencing and associated external elements. Once demolition was complete, the site was cleared and prepared for earthworks operations.

Bulk and detailed earthworks included topsoil stripping, excavation to design levels, reuse of suitable site-won material as engineered fill, subgrade compaction, proof rolling and trimming to specified tolerances. Geotechnical supervision and testing were carried out during fill placement to verify compaction and performance.

Stormwater and On-Site Detention Works

A comprehensive stormwater system was constructed to service the development and manage water movement across the site.
 

The works included trench excavation and installation of PVC and reinforced concrete pipelines, precast pits, kerb entry structures, headwalls and connections into existing infrastructure.
Compaction testing was undertaken to verify trench performance before the next stages of construction progressed.
 

On-site detention tanks were excavated, bedded, installed and backfilled in coordination with builder-supplied components and cranage. Agricultural drainage lines were also installed around OSD structures and retaining wall areas to manage subsoil water and protect surrounding assets.

Pavement, Kerb and Car Park Construction

 

APX Civil completed pavement foundation works across footpath, hardstand and traffic areas as part of the broader car park and external civil package.
 

The works included subgrade preparation, placement of engineered granular subbase and base materials, stabilised pavement layers and separation geotextiles where required. Heavy-duty pavement structures were constructed to suit the design loading requirements, including priming and asphalt wearing courses.
 

Kerb, gutter, flush kerb and dish drain sections were installed to define pavement edges and support surface water management. Car park finishing works included line marking, signage installation, rubber wheel stops and protective bollards to critical infrastructure areas.
